Carolina in My Mind

We've spent a lovely weekend in lovely Charleston. John has never been so we took in the best...the open air market, the pineapple fountain, rainbow row, the battery, and the ancestral family home. We had dinner at Bowen's Island, a tiny shack with a river view. I love Charleston, the smell of the ocean, the weather, the slower pace, and of course family. My grandmother loved Charleston. In our home hangs a print she had of the battery. All of my dad's family were able to gather.

On the way down we stopped in Anson County, NC to find a family gravesite. After a walk in the woods we found the memorial stone. It was fun to see.

(pictures are a little out of order since I'm posting from my phone.)
